Many productivity hack blogs strongly suggest starting and keeping to a daily routine by simply writing out what you envision your day as, or what you need to accomplish. Call it an advanced to-do list.
There are two things I hope to gain from “pre-planning” my day. While writing down what I need to be done it will serve as reflection time for myself and I’ll think of some ideas and projects I should tackle that I would have never thought about if I hadn’t been writing down my to-do list. Another thing valuable that I should gain is self control. Sticking to a pretty strict routine will be hard.
I want to start many various physical and mental challenges in my life as well as some social ones.
There’s an article by Lifehack.org called The Daily Routine of 17 CEOs. Jim Citrin at Yahoo! Finance set out to study the daily routine of 20 CEOs. He found that almost all of the CEOs started to rise very early. This is something that I want to accomplish because I believe my time would be used a lot better if I can finish workouts and web development work that needed to be done in the evening – during the morning.
The outline of my new daily routine goes kinda like this:
5:30 AM – Wake up
5:40 AM – Begin morning workout (will specify in future post)
6:00 AM – Take shower; begin getting ready
6:30 AM – Be completely ready for classes
6:30 – 7:30 AM – Do web work
7:40 AM – 4:00 PM – School
4:30 PM – 6:00 PM – Do web work
6:15 PM – Evening run (2 miles)
7:00 PM – Reading time
7:30 PM – 9:30 PM – Leisure (free time)
9:30 PM – 10:00 PM – Evening workout
10:05 – Bed & ESPN
We’ll see how that goes. It’s a MAJOR change from my current schedule
